Charlie’s background is foggy and rarely spoken of to say the least. Was he in service? Its hard to tell. But if i was going to take a stab in the dark i would have to say no. Only because the jacket/shirt he wears is more of a vintage type which was used in the Vietnam War.
So after much research and pin pointing the right episodes, i believe he is wearing a Rotcho Vintage BDU Shirt. This is a pretty stock standard item for army personal. But there are the 2 badges above the pocket which are more unique.
The black and white patch on the left is a ruptured duck path and on the right is a patch that signifies the aviation electronics division. While these patches don’t come with the jacket, they can be purchased separately.
